I am still alive just mildly sunburnt.
Quick fire update;
NZ was stunning and all the things everyone say it is and more. Loved it
Peru is a favourite of mine, with some of the major towns such as Nazca still relatively untouched yet thriving on tourism. It was refreshing to see, but with South America being the 'new' SE Asia I think things will change dramatically in the next decade.
Also, billboards in Peru produce water for villages by collecting vapour in the air and filtering it...
Ecuador is rainy at this time of year. The mountains less so. We got lost in the side of a volcano and drunk in a yoga studio.
Quito isn't all that great but admittedly we didn't see much of it (but largely cos it is unsafe to at the moment, so we were restricted to la mirascal which is tourist central!)
The Galápagos Islands are immense. I snorkelled with a sea lion, a penguin and a shit load of turtles all at the same time!! Words don't do this place justice. I hope my sister lulu gets to go before they tighten the restrictions on tourism.
We are currently in Mexico where the food threatens to return me to 17stones!! I swear its the food and not me....
Mexico City is smoggy but has the typical character you'd expect, 6 days there was a bit too long though I think (and with 4 murders inc Malcolm Xs grandson in the next street during that time it was a bit scary... And those are the ones we knew about!)
We are in Playa Del Carmen at the mo where I stupidly got sunburnt on our first beach outing yesterday... Been ill for a couple of days before getting here but now it's Danny's turn which sucks.
We have two weeks here though, and this is the start of the long lazy return home on June 20th.
We have cut our trip short by 3 months after figuring it'd be good to do USA and Canada with more money, nice clothes and less pressure!!
Insomnia is currently making a comeback... And not the song regrettably !
